Happy Cyber Monday

New MONSTER purses are ready for Cyber Monday.  Anyone who doesn't know, Cyber Monday is the biggest on line shopping day.  Some of us just will not brave the crowds for generic gifts.  Why not have the convenience of sitting in your favorite chair and doing your shopping on line.
At Oaktopia Design we have a large selection of hand made items that are unique and made with love.  There's the added bonus of FREE SHIPPING on all orders through the end of November.  I know that is only two days away, but that's two days you can get your shopping done and still keep your sanity.  I know that's how I am doing it this year.
Have a happy day, and look for some fun DIY stuff later this week.

mmmmm Wednesday

Okay,  so here I am sitting in bed rummaging through Julie Ann's blog and what do I see on her blog but some super yummy treat called Black Bottoms. I could not believe my eyes, or tummy.  So as a special Wednesday edition of Oaktopia Design I give you Julie's Black Bottoms.

Black Bottoms Recipe

Jordan picked out the recipe for this post. His mom made Black Bottoms throughout his childhood and he had a craving. (No pressure...) Turns out, I did a good job. :] But now, I cannot stop devouring them! I packaged up a bunch to take to work tomorrow because I apparently have no control when it comes to these mini cupcakes of pure heaven. But I mean, chocolatey outside, creaming cream cheese and chocolate chips filling....can you blame me?
You're going to make two mixtures. First combine: 8 oz cream cheese, 1 egg, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/8 tsp salt, and 1 package chocolate chips. In a separate bowl, combine 1 1/2 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt. Then add the following to the dry ingredients: 1 cup water, 1/3 cup oil, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1 tb vinegar. Beat together.
So you should have to separate bowls of yumminess. Line a mini cupcake tin with mini cupcake wrappers. Fill the tin half way with the chocolate mixture. Then add a dollop of the cream cheese mixture on top.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Let them cool and then prepare to get addicted!

Oh and you can thank her for that extra weight on your hips!!

Monster Monday

Howdy all,
I hope your weekend went well.  Here at Oaktopia Design we have added some great new items.  Keith has posted a couple of hand painted Christmas card designs and he is working on a third.  They are beautiful and it's amazing that they were painted.
We have also added more to our Jewelry line and Vintage area.  We have some wonderful evening bags at great prices and we are offering FREE SHIPPING. Just put in the code from our front page SHIPOAKTOPIA at time of check out in the coupon area and you will get your package shipped for FREE.  Now is a great time to do a little Christmas shopping before Black Friday and Cyber Monday hit us with full force.
I bet you are wondering why I titled this Monster Monday, well it's because I have had such a reaction to my little Monster bags, that I have decided to make a few and put them on the web site, so if you haven't been there in a while it's time to check out what has changed.
I hope you all are enjoying the DIY blogs that our guest bloggers have been doing.  I think we will be adding an extra day of DIY crafts just for fun and variety.
Have a great week and I'll be chatting with you all soon.

Happy DIY Saturday

Well oficially it's still Friday night to me here, but the clock says Saturday morning, so Happy Saturday to you all.

Well as you all know I am a big fan of laminating cool things (like stamps from China) and making earrings out of them.  My good friend Lauren at The Perfect Pear, gave us all a whole new spin on laminated earrings.  So forget about the crummy weather if that is what your weekend looks like and make yourself a fun pair of earrings.

Some pretty laminated type leave/feather earrings! :)
You will need: Scissors, A pen, Chain, Clear tape or a laminate, earring hooks, a needle, jump rings and some jewelry supplies as well as a pretty pattern with pattern on both sides of paper, which I got off of flickr, right here
1: Start by cutting your shapes, I just did a basic leaf shape, very simple!
2: After you've cut out your leaves tape both sides, I did a hot dog style fold with the tape :)
3: Cut off all the excess tape, leaving a plastic edge (this is totally optional)
4: Next you want to make a hole with your needle large enough to get your jump ring through it!
5: Cut your chain to desired length. Attach leaves with jump rings starting at the bottom, skipping one link and adding another leaf. Let me know if those instructions are unclear, leave a comment!
6: Attach your earrings hooks to the other end of the chain!
Ta-Da! Pretttyyyyy :)
